I always thought the ghosts and ghouls of Halloween came out on the night of the 31st October, but the Daily Fail … I mean, Daily Mail … have shown me I am wrong in that assumption with quite possibly the most pointless ‘news story’ that they have ever printed.
Yes, I know you might find this hard to believe given they’ve printed such gems as how to get the Kim Kardashian look or the cat that looks like Tom Selleck or the lion that looks like a cartoon lion or, not forgetting, z-grade reality star almost steps into a puddle … but this is worse. No really.
Are you ready?
Are you peeping out from your bedsheets?
OK … so here we go.

Jesus Christ …
I know England is footie-mad but even the most devout Man United fan is not going to give a shit about this … especially given black t-shirts and jeans are about as common as getting mugged by an acne-ridden, drug-taking, 17 year old scamp in Manchester city-centre every Saturday night.
Seriously what next?
Is it even feasibly possible to go any lower?
Paul McCartney runs out of toilet paper?
Ice-Cube adds ice cubes to his drink?
When you think of some of the great journalists out there and all the trials and tribulations they have gone through to bring their important stories to the World, the Daily Mail pisses over all their efforts and legacies … and given the Mail website is one of the most visited places on the internet, that means the fashion of some footballers is going to be the topic of more people’s conversations than the state of the World.
And if you want something scary to think about this Halloween, you can’t get scarier than that.
A few weeks ago, a guy called Oz – based, unsurprisingly in Australia – wrote to me about where to get some weird t-shirts from.
While some [read: all] would read that as a bit of an insult, I was very touched and notified him where my extensive collection of fashion horror-show could be obtained from.
The bad news is the predictive text of my phone decided to slightly alter the name and so when he clicked on the link, he got taken to a site that infected his computer with a virus rather than a place where he could purchase the sort of items only worn by the fashion illiterate.
When he told me what had happened, he mentioned that he had thought I did it on purpose – which some would take as a massive compliment but I took as a massive insult – so to ‘make up for my inadvertent mistake’ he sent me an article that he wanted me to write about.
Which leads to the headline of this post.
And the photograph below this sentence.

Yes, the Guardian Newspaper really did cover this.
Whereas once they were the bastion of good taste for the upper-middle class, they’ve now become the bastard love child of the Sunday Sport, Daily Mail and YouPorn.
Mind you, with the recent publication of Ashley Madison’s [supposedly anonymous] members data online, it is possible the managers at The Guardian felt they could attract the ‘middle class pervert crowd’ with some cheap innuendo and smut because they know they’ll be looking for it given they sure-as-shit won’t be getting any action at home ever again.
Oz did say my final punishment was to link this story to planning in some way, but as bad as planners may sometimes be, even we would never suggest this would be a good idea.
Which is proof of how ridiculous The Guardian is becoming.
Read the story here.

… The Daily Mail isn’t a newspaper, it’s the British version of The Onion.
Now everything makes sense. Including this.
After all, no ‘serious’ newspaper would ever run this as a major story when there’s so much going on in the World that needs genuine reporting.
I feel such a fool. Way to go Daily Mail.

So did you get over your first day back at work?
What was worse … that, or this blog restarting.
Yeah … thought so.
Well I have some good news, because as you read this, I’m on my way to Shanghai.
And there’s better news … this means there won’t be any posts till Friday.
How good is that, 2 days into 2020 blogging and already you’re having a break.
But don’t get too happy, remember I said I would be back on Friday.
So back to those unicorns.
And more specifically, why Wall Street investors like to label certain dot.com companies with that moniker.
Well the answer is easy, because they don’t exist … at least not in the way they claim.
Especially when held under a microscope.
Think about it …
Evernote.
Theranos.
And then WeWork.
Mind you, given how much one of the founders walked away with – despite highly questionable practices, including copyrighting then selling to the company the word ‘we’ – there is definitely a reason why some people are called white collar criminals.
And they say crime doesn’t pay …
See you Friday.
Enjoy the early days of peace.
