The Musings Of An Opinionated Sod [Help Me Grow!]

Education Matters …

It’s Monday.

You’ve had a good weekend and now you’re back to work.

Same. Same. Same. Same. Same.

Being the kind and generous guy I am, I want to help.

Replace that frown with a smile.

God, I’m so kind.

But the reality is I’m not going to do it … a 10 year old kid is.

What am I going on about?

Read this.

Yes I know it’s not really a laughing matter.

Yes I know teachers were quick – and stupid – to be so hasty.

Yes I know the Police were a bit heavy handed.

Yes I know this is the sort of paranoia the media have gleefully created.

But god, it brought a smile to my face.

And the moral of the story?

Study hard.

Especially if you live in Accrington, Lancashire.

Have a good week.

If Trump was in charge there would be 2 possibilities.

1. Nothing. Education in the US is so bad they wouldn’t notice the spelling mistake.
2. He would be sent back to live in Mexico and blame it on all the illegal immigrants.

I’m ignoring they wouldn’t know what a terrace is.

It gets stranger. http://tinyurl.com/hzk3so7

Bloody hell …

Sounds like this kid is a bloody unintentional nightmare. Ha. I wonder if his name is ‘Damian’ … as in ‘The Omen’ fame.

Didn’t you once get an exceedingly low test result at school Robert? You have done OK for yourself despite that.

Comment by George

That’s so long ago that computers weren’t around. If they were, he’d be lucky with a job in a wifi gadget shop.

Yes … 2% in Mrs Kirk’s maths test.

And look at me now … living in China in -7 degrees. Ha.

Comment by Rob

Yes. Living in China in -7 with a loving family, a great job and earning a fortune. Don’t try and play the hard luck card Rob.

Maybe he did it to get out of a test the next day. I’d give him a gold star.

Didn’t you once spell a clients name incorrectly throughout your presentation?

Comment by Bazza

What is it with you and George?

And no I didn’t … but the agency I was working for did and I realised just as they were printing the final materials for the pitch and so we were faced with the dilemma of being late [which would piss them off] or presenting their name incorrectly throughout the presentation [which would piss them off]

In the end, I went with the suits to tap dance for 20 minutes while everything was re-printed correctly and guess what, we won.

So screw you … hahaha.

Comment by Rob

I like your pitch story. Tap-dancing is a dying art.

At BMP we pitched a supermarket chain. On their way out we gave the clients copies of the presentation documents and videos in ‘shopping bags’ we’d mocked up with their logo and the new line.

Sure enough, all the handles broke and the stuff fell out all over the floor.

Martin Boase looked the client right in the eye and said: “Very realistic, aren’t they?”

Wonderful story Ian.

Comment by George

Oh I love that story.

Comment by Rob

bmp even insult elegantly.

Comment by andy@cynic

Perhaps I should be more bothered about typos after all

Comment by northern

Oh yes … you DEFINITELY should.

Comment by Rob

if kids were fucking carted off to the nick for some shit spelling, they could make spelling bees more fucking popular than the nfl.
