I know I said I wouldn’t do this anymore, but those nice bastards in San Fran have got their claws into me again [hello Jonathan] so I’ve come over all peace and love, ha!

Anyway today’s midweek positivity question is about heroes.

I’ve written in the past about some of mine [here and here] so today I want to know who has/does inspire you and why?

To help you, here’s one of mine talking about one of his …

how the fuck do google expect us to prove theyre not evil when they pull shit like this?

campbell being nicey nice is the worst sort of evil there fucking is and i thank some bastard up there that they at least made me tough enough to be immune from their ecstacy like atmosphere.

you know i love you really google labby boys. fuck me youve got me doing it now, were all fucking doomed

and to make it easier for every fucking fool who comes onto this blog i attach a comment you can simply copy and paste (like campbell does on all his presentations) and claim as your own

“andy is my fucking hero because andy fucking rocks”

no need to thank me i know how much i mean to you all

Thank you Andy for your kind offer but I’d like to say my biggest hero is my brother Iain because he lived his life doing what was right for others rather than himself even when that meant putting his life in serious danger.

Sadly he died on active duty (he was a Army Doctor) some years back but his words of encouragement and his positive attitude live with me each day and that’s why he will always be my hero.

Nice post Rob, I like the Google influence on you even if your partners find it quite alarming. πŸ™‚

i got to see my hero a few weeks ago – patti smith. she’s an artist, a musician, a photographer, a poet, a writer – all with amazing talent and drive and strength, sensitivity and intelligence. she rises above and rails against all shallow trends and fashions, but doesn’t live in a vacuum either. she’s an activist, a mother, a lover and adores her audience. she has style and grace, but is still full of fire and rebellion (even at 61!). the longevity of her amazing career – her commitment to continuing to do everything forever is so inspiring. fuck burning out OR fading away.

oh and of course my other fucking hero is andy because he fucking rocks. but you knew that anyway πŸ™‚

I have some rather disturbing news for you Lauren because Patti Smith is a hero of mine as well.

They say you should never meet your heros but in the early 1980’s I had the great pleasure of working alongside her on some projects she was undertaking and everything about her exceeded my wildest of expectations.

I realise you may be upset to learn you share a hero with a 48 year old businessman but as Patti is 61, maybe it is I who should be alarmed that I share a hero with a young, talented artist.

Comment by Lee Hill

lee, i think we should just put it down to the obvious – great minds think alike πŸ™‚ besides, the thing about heroes is that they transcend age and time…

but what i am disturbed about is that you met her and that she’s not an arsehole. and when i say disturbed, i mean jealous. insanely so.

Comment by lauren

So Lee is the punk lover of business … what a shame punk is so old now that you may as well be the Perry Como of business πŸ™‚

Comment by Rob

Whereas Queen are just so cutting-edge.

Comment by John

my hero’s, my tribe.

Comment by Niko

Yes they are actually John … take Brian May, he introduced the ‘poodle cut’ well before it was errrrm fashionable with footie players and heavy metal singers in the 80’s. How much more cutting edge do you want to get?

Comment by Rob

I don’t particularly have any heroes, but I do have lots of people I am strongly influenced and inspired by.

In adland that includes John Webster, Dave Trott, and the Rob/Andy battle among several others.

I won’t talk about music or I will be here all day…
