Which reminds me why I loved this letter that a Dad wrote to his kid when he was going off to university to study Liberal Arts and why I continually thank my parents for encouraging me to live a life of fulfilment rather than contentment … even when the implications of that view meant I would not go on to study law [or anything for that matter] but instead, run wildly towards a life bustling with guitars, travel, stupidity and advertising. Business is very important. Money makes the World go round. But it’s the arts that make us emotionally literate.

Remind me again of the name of that emotionally literate Queen song that objectifyies women’s bottoms?
Comment by John June 6, 2014 @ 6:26 amOr the one describing the effect of listening to the radio.
Comment by Pete June 6, 2014 @ 6:27 amOh you gonna take me home tonight
Oh down beside that red fire light
Oh you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round
Hey I was just a skinny lad
Never knew no good from bad
But I knew love before I left my nursery
Left alone with big fat Fanny
She was such a naughty nanny
Heap big woman, you made a bad boy out of me
Hey hey!
I’ve been singing with my band
Across the water, across the land
I’ve seen every blue eyed floozy on the way (hey)
But their beauty and their style
Went kind of smooth after a while
Take me to them naughty ladies every time
C’mon!
Oh, won’t you take me home tonight?
Oh, down beside your red fire light
Oh, and you give it all you got
Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round
Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round
Hey, listen here
Now I got mortgages and homes
And I got stiffness in the bones
Ain’t no beauty queens in this locality (I tell you)
Oh, but I still get my pleasure
Still get my greatest treasure
Heap big woman you done made a big man of me (now get this)
Oh (I know), you gonna take me home tonight (please)
Oh, down beside that red fire light
Oh, you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round
Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round
Get on your bikes and ride
Ooh, yeah, oh, yeah, them fat bottomed girls
Fat bottomed girls, yeah, yeah, yeah,
All right
Ride ’em cowboy
Fat bottomed girls
Yes, yes, right.
shakespeare must be fucking shitting himself.
Comment by andy@cynic June 6, 2014 @ 6:36 amTo be fair, the art critic on youporn thought it was a masterpiece.
Comment by DH June 6, 2014 @ 6:56 amthat was almost fucking funny.
Comment by andy@cynic June 6, 2014 @ 7:46 amModern day ‘Romeo & Juliet’.
Comment by Rob June 6, 2014 @ 8:39 amThat would be far more cutting if you’d spelt ‘objectifies’ correctly.
Comment by Rob June 6, 2014 @ 8:37 amIf your crap blog tech had deleted the typo that I had noticed you mean. It presumably has learned your spelling and assumed it was your comment.
Comment by John June 6, 2014 @ 3:56 pm“Emotionally literate” is a wonderful way to describe what the arts give society. I’ll be borrowing that.
Comment by Pete June 6, 2014 @ 6:27 amthat shit is planner porn for you fuckers isnt it. once a fucking planner always a fucking planner.
Comment by andy@cynic June 6, 2014 @ 6:34 amYou may not have studied law, but you’ve undoubtedly increased the work of the profession far more than if you had.
Comment by John June 6, 2014 @ 6:31 ami bet ma and pa campbell regret being so fucking liberal with their sons interests now. but at least hes only been allowed to fuck up adland rather than destroy the entire fucking legal system.
Comment by andy@cynic June 6, 2014 @ 6:33 amAlways a silver lining.
Comment by DH June 6, 2014 @ 6:56 amI think it is one of those subjects that we have agreed we will never mention at the dinner table.
Comment by Rob June 6, 2014 @ 8:40 amI’m ignoring the emotionally stunted folks above. I like this very much, I’ll let the fact you like Queen go
Comment by Northern June 6, 2014 @ 4:06 pmWorked with Bruce at McCann NY. Man of quality and depth. Unusual in today’s world. While he paints himself as an analog man, he was the voice of McCann’s social presence… Even today, as in Winston’s time, quality voices still rise to the top.
