OK … so I know these clips are rather old, but as I’ve just used them in a pitch to demonstrate the difference between a brand that attracts and a brand that repulses, I thought I’d post them for you lot to have a gander at.
Though Steve Jobs pays [abit of] my wages, I do have to admit that he is not the coolest guy in the World [though he is one of the most inspirational] … however when you compare him to the bloke running his number one competitor, you can immediately appreciate why he and his company are so loved by the masses … and I am not just talking about Mr and Mrs Nerd!
It would seem the difference between attract and repulse is whether people laugh WITH YOU or AT YOU!
Don’t get me wrong, Jobs is amazing – especially in the art of the presentation – but like Branson … his appeal owes much to the stifled, elitist, corporate attitude of the competitive set as it does to his natural charisma and vision,
Why business and marketing schools don’t educate students on the power and importance of brand charisma, is beyond me.
Anyway, enjoy …
First the good …
[It’s long, but worth it]
Now the ‘Embarrassing Uncle Pissed At The Wedding’ …
[It’s short, but definitely worth it. Credibility crashing infront of your eyes!]

I am genuinely frightened of Steve Balmer.
Comment by fredrik sarnblad March 20, 2007 @ 6:29 pmAh yes.
You can almost see the brand differences right there.
Whats funny is how google is turning into Microsoft, but thats a post for another day on my blog…
Comment by Rob Mortimer March 20, 2007 @ 6:35 pmOooooh … I like that comment Mr Mortimer.
Write about it soon, because I’d be very, very interested to hear your view on that issue … and I’ll even do my VISTA rant then!

God it’s all exciting in our little blog community isn’t it!
Comment by Rob March 20, 2007 @ 6:49 pmFuck no …
Billy is [1] just back at work, [2] still going through his emails and [3] socially inept, ha!
It’s Bazza – the midgit genius though he probably only likes one half of that description.
Comment by Rob March 20, 2007 @ 6:52 pmAh, thats it; I knew it began with B!
Comment by Rob Mortimer March 20, 2007 @ 6:54 pmIm not sure how easy it will be to identify people; I will look out for him though!
I have emailed him your photo [so if you’ve grown hair, he’s fucked] so if a man starts hitting you in the kneecaps, it’s probably him.
Comment by Rob March 20, 2007 @ 7:07 pmNo, im relatively trimmed!
Ill look for a smallish guy searching randomly through the attendees…
Did you have any luck with Mr B?
Comment by Rob Mortimer March 20, 2007 @ 7:10 pmum.. when’s that paint-off planned for?
Comment by lauren March 20, 2007 @ 7:11 pmRepulsion? Attractiveness? You’ve been reading too much Sacrum. Where is the little fellow? He’s been quiet.
Comment by NP March 20, 2007 @ 7:30 pmVista and Google rants, lovely, while were at it, please include Samsung. Sod the actual performance, with ads like that they deserve to go under.
Sacrum is working on his Bransulin theory.
Comment by Marcus Brown March 20, 2007 @ 7:34 pmVery true NP. But I suppose the bright side is, for their ads, the only way is up.
Comment by Rob Mortimer March 20, 2007 @ 7:38 pmLooking forward to the Google and Vista rants. And I agree with NP, Samsung deserves to go under.
Comment by fredrik sarnblad March 20, 2007 @ 7:40 pmRob and I have information that pretty much guarantees Samsung will stay where it is in terms of ad standards here in SE Asia.
Comment by fredrik sarnblad March 20, 2007 @ 7:43 pmFred is only saying that because a certain ABSOLUTEFUCKINGWANKERINTELLECTUALARROGRANTCOCKHEAD is joining them and he wants to see him fail.
Mr Mortimer … all I have got for you regarding Mr B is a poxy photo – I am so, so sorry but it was a rather ‘heated meeting’ and not the most appropriate time to ask for “Bingo” quotes. Saying that, I can get one of our guys to superimpose a “I love Bingo” badge if you want.
Comment by Rob March 20, 2007 @ 7:46 pmSwedish Fred in hardman, evil, vindictive SHOCK!
Comment by Rob March 20, 2007 @ 7:47 pmHaha!
That would be great if you could.
Dont worry about it, I appreciate the effort 🙂
Comment by Rob Mortimer March 20, 2007 @ 7:50 pmMr. Mortimer, did you ever get a chance to listen to that Santana song – Sensitive Kind? Repulsion or attractiveness?
Comment by fredrik sarnblad March 20, 2007 @ 7:50 pmNot yet no!
Comment by Rob Mortimer March 20, 2007 @ 7:54 pmBeen pretty busy and not online much. I shall get it from iTunes when I get back on Friday.
Don’t let Fred convert you to Totoism … that’s the musical equivilent of death-by-boredom.
[Apart from ‘Hold The Line’, ha!]
Comment by Rob March 20, 2007 @ 8:03 pmMy musical taste is anything but boring!
