I saw a statistic recently that said every year, 22 million people visit the theatre in London which is twice as many who attend Premiership football matches.
Or said another way, 21,999,000 more than see Forest each season.
Of course, when you take into account the size of the television audience – both domestic and international – as well as the revenues generated by footie, the reality is thespianfest is no comparison to the English national game, but the point of this post is that even though many people say ‘perception is reality’, the other way of looking at it is ‘perception can make you blind to other opportunities’.
Anyway none of that really matters because I just wanted an excuse to show this video of Stuart Pearce walking down the tunnel of his first match in charge of the current Forest team.
Even though being a football manager is basically a game of ‘how long will you survive’, he will be able to look back on this day and know how much he meant to some people … which at the end of that day, is something we all would like to know we achieved.

I’m not sure if your point is agencies get too focused on what they think is popular or that data/headlines are open to ambiguity. I would guess a bit of both. I would also guess, though you admit it in the post, this was all a ruse to show the impressive reception received by your latest managerial lamb to the slaughter.
Comment by Pete September 9, 2014 @ 6:26 amThat’s almost an insult. Congratulations Pete.
Comment by DH September 9, 2014 @ 6:43 amwhat took you so long to see he talks more shit than a politician.
Comment by andy@cynic September 9, 2014 @ 7:05 amYeah … it is a bit garbled, even by my garbled standards. To be honest I’m not sure what the hell I mean – but if there’s 2 alternatives and both sort-of make sense – I’ll say that’s exactly what I meant. Ahem.
Comment by Rob September 9, 2014 @ 8:50 amRob: 20 million of those thespian-nozzles are Yanks, you pillock. Whereas everyone at a Forest game is a cretin from Nottingham. Anyway, it’s never been the same since Georgie Best’s second liver packed it in. I saw him once in a Manchester club at 2.00 AM on a Saturday morning. He had two loverrrllly birds with him and was pissed out of his mind. That afternoon, he scored a hat trick for United. More than that fucktard Rooney scores in a season. I miss him. Georgie, not the wanker.

This makes less sense than Campbell’s post. I like it.
Comment by Billy Whizz September 9, 2014 @ 6:34 amDo you think Best would still be seen as so good if he was playing against todays superstars or would he be even better than the highly paid bunch of ponces?
Comment by Rob September 9, 2014 @ 8:50 amBetter… Remember when he was interviewed near the end and asked what had done with all his money… He replied “I spent it on fast cars, fast women and booze… The rest I pissed away!” What a guy. Do they play in China… What’s the ball… A monkeys head?
Comment by adscamgeorge September 9, 2014 @ 9:42 amCheers/George
No George, you’re mixing China up for a KKK film you must have seen or something. They play here and they use the American economy as the ball to kick the shit out of. Boom Tish.
Comment by Rob September 9, 2014 @ 8:38 pmI know nothing about soccer but neither does nottingham so when their coach is fired, tell them I’m available. I want money and chicks. But not nottingham chicks. Classy ones.

Comment by adscamgeorge September 9, 2014 @ 6:42 amYou’ll have to go to Manchester for those.
By classy, you mean breathing?
Comment by DH September 9, 2014 @ 6:43 amBetter than not breathing.
Comment by Billy Whizz September 9, 2014 @ 6:50 amIs attending a forest game the punishment authorities give to people in trouble with the police?
Comment by DH September 9, 2014 @ 6:42 amProbably. And that’s why we have 20,000+ going to the matches every week.
Comment by Rob September 9, 2014 @ 8:51 amIsn’t today the day Apple announce a bigger Bazza?
Comment by Billy Zero September 9, 2014 @ 6:47 amThere’s only room for one Billy on here. I hope it’s you so I can escape.
Comment by Billy Whizz September 9, 2014 @ 6:51 amthat explains why the fucker hasnt been posting any crap comment on here lately. hes been saving it up for the apple press release when they try and claim their latest iripoff product is like nothing else youve seen before, even though it looks and acts like every fucking iripoff product theyve ever released, just fucking bigger.
at this rate it will be taller than the little fucker by 2020.
Comment by andy@cynic September 9, 2014 @ 7:04 amthe only thing shitter than this post is forest. and dont even try and give me the “were top of the league” banter. the season has just started and youre in the fucking kiddy division. the only reason they gave psycho that welcome is they thought he looked like them when theyre in court trying to get a shorter fucking sentence.
Comment by andy@cynic September 9, 2014 @ 7:09 amFeeling better now?
Comment by Rob September 9, 2014 @ 8:55 amLeeds are worse than Forest. Can’t believe I said that
Comment by Northern September 9, 2014 @ 8:23 pmThe first step to recovery is admitting the truth.
You’re right though. As bad as we’ve been – and we’ve reached epic depths of shame – we’ve never ended up hiring the local pub team organiser as our manager. I know you’ve sacked him now but the fact you hired him is the proof of disaster running through your club. That’s what happens when you treat the masterful Clough like that … though I’m glad you did or we would never of got him so in a way, I’m really gutted for you guys and hope a miracle happens soon.
PS: Please note this miracle is not to be at Forest’s expense.
Comment by Rob September 9, 2014 @ 8:36 pmMe publicly admitted my love for Media Arts is more likely
Comment by Northern September 9, 2014 @ 8:47 pmTwenty million quid of shit on the pitch each weekend and still they can’t get their grass to grow.
Comment by DH September 9, 2014 @ 7:51 amBoom Tish.
Comment by Rob September 9, 2014 @ 8:52 amA rousing reception for Mr Pearce. I heard he no longer likes being referred to as “psycho”. I understand why, but I think he needs to accept that is out of his control.
Comment by Lee Hill September 9, 2014 @ 8:17 amHe can say what he wants, we don’t forget moments like this:
