… to my wonderful, fantastic, lovely Mum who hits the amazing 80 today.
EIGHTY!!!
If you saw her or talked to her, you’d never guess she was that age – hell, I act more like I’m 80 than her – but the fact is, she is which is why I’m especially glad I’m here with her on this special, special day.
Now you might think with all this, she has suffered enough, and maybe you’re right – but in February, she suffers even bit more because not only do I come back to England, but I then take her to just outside the North Pole so she can [hopefully] see the Northern Lights.
And even more amazingly, she’s excited about both things. Madness.
So to my dear Mum, a very, very, very happy birthday.
I love you more than words could ever say, even though I keep trying.

Comment by Rob November 3, 2012 @ 4:38 pmI have never ever seen that much spark in the eyes of an 80 year old woman. This is truly amazing. I want to see her eyes when i’ll throw my colorful tails into the night sky.
You can get my attention too if you are wearing Birkenstocks today, are you ?

Comment by Fiorella November 5, 2012 @ 9:46 pmI had a wonderful 80th birthday made special by you, Robert, the best son in the world and your lovely wife, Jill, being here with me to celebrate it. I received lots of cards, gifts, phone calls and visitors and many flowers – the room now looks like …Kew Gardens. We rounded off the day with a delicious dinner in a very good restaurant. All in all, it is alright to be 80!
Love and thanks to everybody
