The Musings Of An Opinionated Sod [Help Me Grow!]

The Paradox Of Man …

Quite a lot of people live fairly unhealthy lives.

I don’t just mean in terms of eating badly and not exercising, I’m talking about having a carefree attitude towards energy, money and their future … which is why I find it quite interesting to see how people are reacting to the tragic situation in Japan and the potential nuclear plant meltdown.

Of course it’s an incredibly serious thing – something that could affect many millions of people – however the reactions of some people are completely counter to the way they live their life.

Suddenly they are fearing for their future … not wanting to go out … demanding nuclear energy plants stop being built … which is quite interesting given they’ve spent the last god-knows-how-long doing everything they can – consciously or not – to destruct their own future through their choices and actions, so if there is any good to come from this horrendous situation, maybe it’s a resetting of certain people’s behaviour and attitudes, though given how quickly the masses have gone back to their old spending habits after the financial crisis [which, let’s be honest, is still going on] I don’t think that will be the case.

what the fuck are you going on about campbell? is this your attempt to feel better that you are too healthy what gary glitter is to good parenting?

besides, havent you got a history with radiation? you think your immortal dont you. is that why you can eat a pizza quicker than any fucker on the planet. i know you did a deal with the fucking devil but even she (definitely a she) cant keep you safe for fucking ever.

Chernobyl 1986.

I was in Denmark when the radiation cloud hit.

While it appeared to not affect me, with hindsight, I soon realised it had given me super-human powers to obtain copious amounts of free shit … but only free shit that would irritate my nemesis, Andy.

And I only eat pizza quickly because I know if I blink, it’ll be down your gullet quicker than you can go to the loo just as the bill comes.

is that pic those abba clone fuckers? is that your idea of funny? how your brain works is funny but not in the humour fucking stakes. weird fuck.

Comment by andy@cynic

I’m impressed you recognised them. Impressed and very alarmed.

Save all you kisses for me

Comment by northern

what the fuck are you doing up at this fucking time? is jill back? has she kicked you out of bed for being a bastard?

Comment by andy@cynic

Writing a pitch deck. Been up since 2am. It’s not looking very good despite the fact I’m doing the usual ‘copy & pasting’.

What is going wrong???

Comment by Rob

it might be that time where you face your single fucking presentation needs updating. dont get your panties in a fucking twist, its already lasted you longer than most fucking hollywood marriages and theres only so many clients where you can flog them “bad xxxxxx wont get you laid” propositions.

Comment by andy@cynic

I know, it’s lasted me well but it would seem you’re right, it’s time to upgrade … unless I focus on untapped markets like Eastern Europe, which might mean I have to leave W+K and move again, but at least I won’t have to do a whole new presentation all over again.

Comment by Rob

If I’m going to die of radiation, I’m going to make sure I go out in a wave of over indulgent luxury.

The good die young.

dont fucking encourage him dave, you know how easily influenced he is, especially when its about something he thinks will give him immorfuckingtality.

Comment by andy@cynic

and if what you say is true i should of been dead within 3 fucking minutes of being born.

Comment by andy@cynic

Don’t worry Andy, I ignore everything Dave says.

Comment by Billy Whizz

not as stupid as you look anymore then. those lessons must be working.

Comment by andy@cynic

Good point Rob, wonder if that means if earth hour will be even more popular this year.

Comment by Pete

One day, I will die of a hangover.

Comment by Marcus

or not.

Good morning Marcus.

Comment by niko

Morning, Niko.

Comment by Marcus

Well stop drinking then … it’s quite easy to avoid them.

Comment by Rob

Don’t start on me, planner.

Comment by Marcus

So aggressive. Definitely a hangover.

Despite the ruination of the Brotherhood of Man Image (at least it wasn’t fucking BonyBastardM) I like this post. People are useless, we only get mobilised when the shit hits the fan.
I know it will be the same when Baby Northern 2 gets born, I’ll do sod all preparation until the week before the little blighter is born.
Now leave me alone, I’ve got a sodding APSOTW post to finish writing.
By the way, had a good time meeting Freddie. We both agreed that we never want to meet Andy and destroy the myth by finding he’s isn’t OZ The Great and Terrible really. he’s a jovial little old man.

We also talked about you Rob., we’re your ears burning?

Comment by northern

Are you trying to link my ears burning with the news you’re going to be a Dad to another little cutie?

Whatever you say, I deny it – but a huge, huge, huge congrats, especially to Mrs NP for putting up with your lothario ways.

Seriously, that is wonderful news, which is why I’ll let you off trying to start a rumour Andy is nice in any way whatsoever.

[Sorry Andy!]

Comment by Rob

Lothario? It was her that took pity on me in the first place
And as for ears burning, it was more to do with being one’s own worst enemy there was even the mention of ‘prima donna’. Mrs Northerm has had quite enough of bald planners with me to entertain the thought of another

Comment by northern

you calling me or campbell a prima fucking donna? better not be me though fuck knows what campbell has that could be mistaken for that, have you seen what the fucker looks like.

well done on baby #2. 2 shags, 2 babies. you should fuck the planning bollocks off and take up darts.

Comment by andy@cynic

As much as I feel for those suffering in Japan right now, no one has yet answered why the Japanese government felt it appropriate to built 4 big nuclear reactors on the most earthquake prone land in the world.

Comment by Rob Mortimer

You could probably ask that question about a whole host of things.

Comment by Rob

Indeed we could, but I think it is a perfectly reasonable question that needs to be thoroughly investigated once rescue efforts have finished.

I hope this makes people think twice about more nuclear power. not saying it’s wrong, but we should never forget the risks.

Comment by Rob Mortimer

Not wanting to be picky, but it’s actually changed the minds of many greens, even George Monbiot, by showing a, hitherto, undemonstrated robsustness under the absolute harshest of tests.

Comment by northern

That’s a good argument, but we have to ask how close we were to seeing nuclear destruction on a level not seen since Chernobyl

Comment by Rob Mortimer

Him Andy, obviously

Comment by northern

better.
