The Musings Of An Opinionated Sod [Help Me Grow!]

Walking Through History …

So I’m in Singapore at the moment and I have to say it’s good to be back.

Sure it’s bloody hot and there’s things about the place that does my head in, but Singapore was incredibly good to me and I have a lot of friends and memories here that counter any negative view that I could have.

The thing is, whilst I haven’t lived there for 2 years, my feelings towards the place are much stronger than in HK, where I lived just 6 weeks ago.

Of course some of that is down to the fact I spent 4 years in Sing and only 15 months in HK – but I am shocked at just how sentimental I am about the little island, especially as if truth be told, I miss it more than I do places where I lived for longer.

If I really think about it, there’s probably a whole load of reasons … from the fact it’s where I first started my love affair with Asia through to it being where I got married … but the thing is, if someone had asked me way back in 2005 whether I thought I’d ever have such strong feelings towards Singapore, I’d of laughed in their face which leads to my point …

There are many occasions in life and work where you get set challenges and goals that leads your first reaction to be something like “AREYOUFUCKINGOUTYOURMIND” when the reality is, with some thought and a bit of luck, you might be able to come up with an idea/s that allows something truly momentous and special to flow, and if that happens, you might just be able to rewrite the rule book.

As much as the brain can create magic, it also can stop it … so as one of my old bosses used to say, “don’t presume till you have the facts”.

youre such a sentimental fucking fart arent you campbell. then you say how hk does fuck all for you so maybe youre a cold hearted bitch. how is singapore anyway, still fucking hotter than a 3 some with angelina and megan and a a bottle of slip and slide soap?

I’m not sure why I like this post but I do, especially the final 2 paragraphs. There are many occasions where people create bigger obstacles to success than aew already there but this is starting to sound too much like an Antony Robbins advertorial so I’ll leave it there.

Comment by Bazza

in my humble fucking opinion baz, the yanks need more people to say you cant or shouldnt fucking do something. the ipad for instance.

Comment by andy@cynic

In that case I’ll make sure you don’t have any early access to our products Andy as it appears we upset you so much.

Comment by Bazza

look at baz playing mr im the fucking shit.

seems jobs is rubbing off on you which is how you got the job in the first fucking place isn’t it. oh i am so fucking funny.

Comment by andy@cynic

You’re right Baz, you’re verging on the edge of Robbins and Oprah territory – which is sad because it completely undermines the rare compliment you were giving me.

Bloody typical!

Comment by Rob

It’s got fuck all to do with where you got married or your friends, it’s because your favorite sad nerd twat gadget shops are there isn’t it. I know the truth.

Comment by Billy Whizz

campbell loves his tech shit more than he loves anything else. what a sad excuse for a fucking man. even if he ate old spice for 300 days it wouldnt make him a real man.

Comment by andy@cynic

As long as you don’t put that forward as a branded experiment, I’ll agree with you, even though you’re talking out your arse. As usual. 🙂

Comment by Rob

Billy is showing a rare moment of insight there. Of course he’s wrong, but it’s still quite impressive.

Comment by Rob

dont fucking kick him just as hes started using his head. fuck campbell, how is that going to encourage him to not go back to the habit of his fucking lifetime. youre a bastard.

Comment by andy@cynic

Yes Rob, stop fucking making me go back to being the disengaged hick we know I am. Andy’s right, you are a bastard.

Comment by Billy Whizz

Oops!

Comment by Rob

I agree with Bazza, but without the self help overtones. I spent 2 years living in Singapore and must admit it doesn’t have the same hold over me as it does you, but the fact it does proves your point about getting facts before judgement because I remember what you said to me before you headed over there and it definitely had nothing to do with it being an integral part of your life.

Comment by Pete

he said hed miss watching the fucking bill didnt he.

more evidence even old spice and steroids couldnt help him. poor fucking jill.

Comment by andy@cynic

European has woken.

Comment by Marcus

You realise that Jill is changing the locks as a result of your not listing your marriage at the head of the list.

Comment by John

Or very relieved.

Comment by DH

Indeed.

It’s cliche, but all too often the biggest obstacle to success is a lack of belief and confidence.

Comment by Rob Mortimer

bet youre not fucking walking today are you. taxi all the way you smug shit.

Comment by andy@cynic

Twitter needs you Boucher. You’d end it.

Comment by Marcus

i like twitter, it keeps all the wankers well fucking away from me plus with them all in one place boring the shit out of eachother with inane news they had fuck all to do with, its easier for my hitmen to come and take the whole fucking lot in one go which saves on their traveling costs.

Comment by andy@cynic

Shame your hitmen are more Stock Aitkin and Waterman than lethal enforcers…

But Andy on Twitter would be ace.

Comment by Rob Mortimer

theyre my fucking builders so i should have guessed theyd not deliver on time and cost fuckloads more than they first quoted.

Comment by andy@cynic

But people would be bored reading Andy’s tweets – mainly because they’d say the same thing every day …

“Surrounded by fuckwits. I am a genius. Hot women want me”.

Comment by Rob

for once campbell you make an astute comment except the bit where you say people would be fucking bored. on the fucking contrary, theyd be hanging on to my every pissing word.

Comment by andy@cynic

Bit late on this but…

“Of course some of that is down to the fact I spent 4 years in Sing and only 15 months in HK”

“and some is down to the (insert expletive) (insert special administrative region) (insert random people related nouns)
