And I don’t mean this one:
[Though he did allegedly take cash to lend his name to certain corporations goals. Ahem]
I mean this one:
The thing is, I kinda like it … certainly waaaaaay more than the Gucci “shock and bore” above.
Maybe it’s because it’s just a bit charming … maybe it’s because water and vegetation are underpinned by ‘nature’ or maybe it’s because it was outside a French restaurant … but it got my attention, made me smile and made me think of drinking Perrier which is more than they can normally manage.
Ambient garden media … appearing on a media plan near you soon.

Much planning required for the latter example of the topiarist’s art.
Comment by Chris March 25, 2010 @ 6:45 amcan you shock and bore or is that another fucking ridiculous planner statement? have a wild fucking guess.
you do realise youre saying you like frogs.
youd be given grudging respect if you were talking about their chicks but youre not, youre talking about their fucking water and a bush made to look like one of their fucking bottles.
you sad weird twat.
can we play a game and test your post rationalisation skills. link big macs to ny fashion week. go on, give a masterclass in planning reverse engineering and you cant take the piss by saying maccas will put some weight on the clothes twigs, give me a real fucking reason.
Comment by andy@cynic March 25, 2010 @ 6:52 amThe very sad thing is that there’s nothing in your comment I can actually argue with.
I hang my head in shame and sit on the very, very naughty step.

Comment by andy@cynic March 25, 2010 @ 8:12 amDo you like this because you still hark back to the times you were a communications innovator at principals?
Hello Robert, I hope you are well and will be visiting us soon.
Comment by MarkS March 25, 2010 @ 8:20 amHello Mark … how the hell are you?!
Fantastic to hear from you … absolutely brill. Will email you and sort out when we can catch up because I’ll be back in your neck of the woods in the next few weeks.
And for your information I wasn’t a communications innovator at Principals [I was called something worse, “Devils/Advocate” – what a pile of wank] it was at Special Branch/JWT … and if you remember, I almost caused a diplomatic incident with Nestle which is why I ended up having to get out of town quickly.
In other words, it was/is all your fault. 🙂
Great to hear from you, speak/see you soon.
Comment by Rob March 25, 2010 @ 8:39 amcommunications innovator.

Comment by andy@cynic March 25, 2010 @ 10:39 amIf this blog was a packet of starbursts, this post would be the yellow one nobody likes.

Comment by Rob March 25, 2010 @ 3:08 pm“maybe it’s because water and vegetation are underpinned by ‘nature’ ”

Comment by rafik March 25, 2010 @ 1:41 pmThat’s not post rationalisation, that’s insight. 😉
Comment by Rob March 25, 2010 @ 3:09 pmThat’s outside Le Carillon on Club Street, Singapore, isn’t it?
Comment by fredrik sarnblad March 25, 2010 @ 5:16 pmI love how you know Singapore by the restaurants Freddie.
Comment by Rob March 25, 2010 @ 5:24 pmI like it, but only just. I have a thing about brands appearing all over the place because they can’t interrupt anymore, but since this is just about charming I’ll let it off….
Comment by northern March 25, 2010 @ 5:29 pmFunny enough, I used to love brands that turned up in unexpected – and yet still kind of relevant places – however as time has moved on, many agencies [media & creative] simply think shoving a logo anywhere is clever media [especially in many cases it’s done to be an ad for the agency more than the client] and it’s got to such a state I believe the power is deciding where NOT to put communication.
However that aside … as I said, the reason why I like the foliage ad is because it’s just a bit charming, and as we all know, HOW you say something is just as important as WHAT and WHERE you say it.
So why is that so hard for so many media companies to understand?
Comment by Rob March 25, 2010 @ 5:58 pmwouldn’t it be more charming and nicer if the foliage was real and not the crappy plastic kind? (or is it already the real kind?)
Comment by adlandplanner March 25, 2010 @ 6:53 pmIt is the real kind.
If it was plastic I’d of burned it, not photographed it.
Comment by Rob March 25, 2010 @ 7:20 pmfuck that bushy crap.. beside the door behind the bush, it reads:
happy hour all nite long..
now that would of been a post worth writing…
Comment by niko March 25, 2010 @ 9:53 pmIt’s nice. Raises a smile without trying to shove a message in your face.
