Is It Just Me …

… or is the Google search page [in Australia, at least] slowly but surely getting more and more cluttered?

Sure, it’s still better than most of their competitors, but that’s immaterial – it signifies a shift/lapse in the judgement and values of the company.

To be honest, this happens to many organisations at some point, which is why – as I wrote here – I have such respect for NIKE, so let’s hope this post encourages George to cause a bit of a stink in a certain office in Mountain View, though I have the sneaky suspicion that like the Diet Coke post of last year, I will be the one getting the most shit.

Oh goodie …

this is the aussie google page is it? figures given those convict fuckers think their shit doesnt stink and can do what the fuck they want.

first its taking our penguin biscuits and calling them fucking tim tams or something and now this.

2/1 a marketing guy was behind this google page car crash using words like “increasing product knowledge and use via awareness driven through our main brand asset”.

because auntie george will focus on killing campbell for this post before he turns his mild attention on me for this comment, i can the few g people ive met who can say the words but dont know what they mean reside outside the boundaries of mountainviewland. inside the kingdom everyone is a happy philosophy abiding citizen but outside of the possibilities bubble, some think theyre allowed to live by different rules as long as they speak in the native language.

sounds like singapore or kiddie fiddling priests.

in the interests of my fucking pension and life span better point out its only a fucking few who are like this and theyre still fucking better than 99.9% of companies and i personally think jonathan is one good looking, talented bastard.

sorry george but campbell started it with that pissing screen shot.

It appears it might be but if you saw what google.com looked like when they first started you’d think this was a big improvement.

Did you see what I did there? I hope George did. 🙂

i wish id fucking thought of that but im not a sad fuck who knows that sort of shit.

did you see what i did there? i hope pete did.

We’re all going to hell so what’s it matter.

Interesting points you raise there Andy – of course you are entitled to your PERSONAL views.

Google Chrome does rock though.

I wouldn’t of noticed the creeping of clutter on Google if you hadn’t brought it to my attention. Wonder what the tipping point is when bits of information becomes distracting noise?

Will George save Google from the tomb of doom? Sure, he’s SuperGeorge.

Is this important?

Comment by jamiethepigeon

to be honest, as a user, i think this is a good place to advertise chrome. maybe they could make it a bit smaller and place it more on the right though…

Comment by peggy

I agree with Peggy it’s a great place to promote their products, but I also agree with Rob the page is looking messier than I’m used to seeing.

Seems their self judgement has been compromised but Chrome is more important to their business than many of their other products.

I think this is called sitting on the fence. 🙂

So, this is important?

Comment by jamiethepigeon

not as important as a fucking talking pigeon.

morning fuckers.

Comment by andy@cynic

I don’t talk. I type. Fool.

you still use the google home page? you don’t use the inbuilt google search tool on your browser? well, that’s what you get silly – ugly home page-ness.

hi. i’m back. 🙂

btw, just in case you’re wondering, you’re missing an awesome show of mine in melbourne at the moment… 😉

funny you would say this lauren – about using the inbuilt search. i never use the inbuilt search thing for google searches with firefox. because it takes me one second to hack “google.com” in (it s also bookmarked, but no…) without having to use the mouse too often – instead of a felt eternity to select a search engine from the drop down menu (which i use for searches at places with more complicated url’s like wiki etc.). though i miss some drop down (or preferably via icons) inbuilt search (apart from the address bar/bookmarks) for chrome. but that s just me and my weird using habits.

enjoy your show! 🙂

Comment by peggy

I am gutted I’m missing your show Lauren – but it wouldn’t happen if you fitted in with my agenda rather than go off and selfishly do your own thing. 😉

And for the record, of course I use the inbuilt Google search feature – but the photo is from a computer in the Qantas lounge in Sydney which sort-of shows how backward the airline is in terms of appreciation of modern technology. OK, it doesn’t, but I can’t miss a chance to knock em … though to be fair, they’re better than Malaysian Airlines offering …
