Shekhar Gupta – of the Indian Express Newspaper – explains how Asia can help America with their economic woes …
“All you need to do is grant visas to two million Indians, Chinese and Koreans.”
“We will buy up all the subprime homes. We will work 18 hours a day to pay for them.
We will immediately improve your savings rate – no Indian bank today has more than 2 percent nonperforming loans because not paying your mortgage is considered shameful here – and we will start new companies to create our own jobs and jobs for more Americans.”
Genius. And probably quite right.

Comment by andy@cynic March 27, 2009 @ 8:28 amAre you saying the work ethic of the Asian population is more than that of their American cousins?
Comment by Pete March 27, 2009 @ 9:01 amYes.

And you know that too you shit stirrer …
Comment by Rob March 27, 2009 @ 9:14 amthe last thing indians, chinese and koreans possibly need is to go with a visa. just kidding… but i would agree that they probably would try very hard to work the debt off.
and kind of funny, though not really… but the chinese already own some of the subprime homes, don’t they.

Comment by Pete March 27, 2009 @ 9:48 amSuper Idea, infact we were joking about this last week, how Indians would want to buy up ‘resedential property’ going cheap!
Comment by bhaskar March 27, 2009 @ 12:32 pmThere’s some republicans out here that think this was part of Obama’s master plan.
Comment by Bazza March 27, 2009 @ 4:20 pmthe republicans must think it was bazza, as the obama administration said “it wants to resist moves towards protectionism […] and will push that view at next week’s london summit with the leaders of the group of 20 nations”. but then “companies receiving federal bailout money now face extra hurdles before they can hire highly skilled guest workers on an H-1B visa”. Comment by peggy March 27, 2009 @ 7:59 pmThey would also send the newly printed dollars abroad too. It is the best idea I’ve read yet.
