Grandmother Fails Driving Test 771 Times And Counting …

A South Korean grandmother has failed her driving test 771 times, and a newspaper reported she will keep trying.

The 68-year-old, identified only as Cha, has taken the test almost every working day since 2005 in southwestern Jeonju city. Her latest failure was on Monday.

Choi Yong Cheol, a police sergeant supervising the test, said Cha cannot pass the written section.

The media said Cha sells food and household items door to door at apartment complexes, carrying the items in a handcart, but wants to get a car for her business.

Police estimate she has spent almost five million won (HK$28,080) to take the written test, with each test costing 6,000 won in addition to other expenses.

Someone should tell her to go to Singapore, with what I experienced in my 4 years living there, I’m pretty sure she’d pass first time. 🙂

a women is driving along when her cell phone rings – she answers and hears her husbands panicked voice. “be careful darling” he warns, “I’ve just heard on the radio that some idiot is driving in the wrong direction, against the traffic on the motorway you are on, its causing chaos”. “its worse than that” she replies, “there are hundreds doing it!”

no.

and those pedants should give that granny a pass.
what does that mean “she cannot pass the written section”? maybe she s got dyslexia or something.

then the old dear wont be able to read the fucking road signs will she peggy?

if you mean signs with street names andy. i guess she knows the area where she would be driving around. or could find other signs she could get orientation from. no?

Comment by peggy

not all signs are symbol based peggy. i dont think the judge would accept an argument that the reason she drove into and killed a bunch of innocent little 5 year olds just because the dyslexic wannabe ayrton senna read “olochs” when it was “school” 🙂

and arent most car accidents within 10 minutes from home? signs or no signs shes going to end up fucking up even though campbell has just told me shes probably got more combined driving experience than half the fucking cops on the road

Women are FAR superior drivers.

just for the hell of it andy. and because i find it quite interesting… as far as i understand it (might be a very short distance, probably around 10 mins away from home), people with dyslexia tend to think in pictures. their ‘problem’ is cognitive. they try to objectify the meaning of words/letters/numbers in their mind. imagining a signifié. with this approach it s getting difficult if things are abstract. certain people might not understand the meaning of the word “and”, for example. they are searching for a fitting picture in their mind. but as there are so many contexts when it s used, result is disorientation…

back to the granny. i would assume that the size of the set of road signs that imply a certain behaviour directly, is limited… if there is a road sign only with the word “school” on it, the sign is probably a symbol for driving slowly and carefully. so granny needs to keep the picture of the sign in mind and understand to drive slowly when she sees that sign. she might not be able to read the word school, but recognises the road sign because of the looks. meaning comes from somebody who explained that this particular sign is a symbol for driving slowly. so maybe she can still make it. that s my twisted logic here. does that make sense. somehow maybe. haha.

i have no clue if most car accidents happen 10 mins away from home. could be. maybe that s the distance/area that is frequented mostly or something by the individual and due to the density of people in living areas and such. they say rush hour is dangerous.
