There is currently a SONY ad on air that has [in my humble opinion] dodgy production values, awful music and no core idea.
I want to categorically state I [or my team] had nothing to do with it except develop the underlying FEEL strategy which it supposidly works off [though you’d never be able to tell if you saw the commercial]
Normal service will be resumed very soon. Oh yes … very, VERY soon! [Cue: Evil Laugh]
* Which I accept isn’t exactly worth much!

This isn’t the one I think it is, yeah?
Comment by Age July 30, 2007 @ 8:38 amGod that’s a terrible ad!
Don’t tell me, one of Sony’s other rostered agencies destroyed all your hard work because they wanted to “interpret” feel in their own way because they hate the fact someone else came up with it rather than them. Creative and planning awfulness by any chance, or just creative indulgence? Hope you sort it out because you’ve been doing so well with them previously. Hope I don’t see it 🙂
Comment by Pete July 30, 2007 @ 8:45 amAh…thanks for that clarification Rob.
Comment by fredrik sarnblad July 30, 2007 @ 9:39 amAs if you didn’t know young Freddie – you were present at my Queenie when I saw it, ha!
Comment by Rob July 30, 2007 @ 10:29 amI wasn’t being sarcastic…just appreciative of the fact that you set things straight and cleared our names. Yes, I did witness your Queenie Rob!

Comment by andy@cynic July 30, 2007 @ 5:23 pmCan anyone who has been subjected to it just give me the jist of whats bad about it so I dont have to shout at the regression of Sony advertising after so much positive progress?!
Comment by Rob Mortimer July 30, 2007 @ 5:37 pmHere you go Mr Mortimer – from an email AGE sent me [wondering if it was me/us after he saw it run in Australia …
“I was going to say, it was the strangest (read: WORST) ad I’ve seen in a long time.
The music sucked, the narrative was cheesy, the effects annoying and it dragged on and on with no respect for pacing or any editing smarts at all”
Just about sums it up I think …
Comment by Rob July 30, 2007 @ 6:51 pmJeez. To think it nearly sullied the good planning that had gone into the overall campaign.
Comment by Rob Mortimer July 30, 2007 @ 6:54 pmQuite … but it won’t happen again Mr M … well, not until we lose the account or I am bumped off – which is probably far more likely, ha!
