For Those Who Say President Trump Wants To Take America Back To The 1950’s …

… if you look at this Superman poster from that era, you will see that America was far more inclusive and compassionate towards others than it is today.

And we all know how intolerant it was back then.

Given all the stuff Mr Trump said throughout his campaign and in his early Presidential days, I think it’s fair to say the 1950’s is still too liberal for his liking.

God … what has America got itself into?

Actually, that’s not the biggest question.

How did America end up walking so far from what it believed and represented?

And they have the nerve to still say they’re the land go the free.

[Good job I know there’s more good people there than delusional, gun-toting, nutcases]

What Andy said x 1,000.

And American Football is tragic. 60 minutes of entertainment stretched out to 4 hours of mind-numbing boredom.

Much like a Queen concert.

Nice Dodds.

trump isnt the problem its square head bannon. seeing america come out and fucking fight from people to companies is what is making america great again even if its making trump clench his tiny fucking hands.

Yep … and when he has got China saying ‘a war between them and America would not be of any good to mankind’, you have to [1] be scared that this issue is even being talked about and [2] China is looking the more mature of the 2 of them.

At a time where we should be looking for ways to find peace, Trump’s administration seems to revel in trying to find ways to provoke war. If that’s his strategy on how he will make America great again, then he seems to have forgotten we’ll all be nuked into kingdom come. Or maybe that’s his goal … so then no one can say he failed.

I hope I’m wrong. Maybe it’s because I’m a Dad, but I’ve never felt so fearful about things in my life.

and even if that kid at the back is black (which he isnt) hes still at the fucking back.

Comment by andy@cynic

Oh dear.

Comment by George

Unracist racist.

Comment by DH

I love America, but if you think that racism and misogyny have suddenly become worse in the past couple of years, then I’m afraid you don’t know the country as well you imagine. It’s true of many other “civilised” countries too.

Comment by John

more fucking overt, but not worse.

Comment by andy@cynic

Exactly.

Comment by John

It has got worse again. That does not mean prejudice and racism had disappeared, it was tragically embedded throughout the system yet swept under the carpet by authorities and society. But compared to the 50s and 60s, there had been major improvements and we should not ignore that. That does not mean it was fair or that there still wasn’t a lot to do to make it better but I feel we have been taking steps backwards of late and that is devastating to witness.

Comment by George

youre fucking saying the same as me. the illusion of rights doesnt mean they have rights when it fucking comes down to others putting up or shutting up. it might have been calmer but it wasnt better for most. googletowers is fucking with your brain auntie.

Comment by andy@cynic

and dont fucking worry, i know youre not a fucking kkk member. youre not even a member of fucking humanity. once a planner always a planner.

Comment by andy@cynic

We all know what I am trying to say. I am not suggesting racism hasn’t always been a dark part of American/Western society, however I agree with Robert that it appears to have become more prominent again in the past few years. Whether that is simply a reveal of what has always been there or an upswing in racist sentiment is difficult to separate. The fact it is, racism is still there and that is the issue that should not be ignored.

Comment by George

Just like those late nights in the office.

Comment by DH

Where Andy kicked the shit out the planners?

Comment by Billy Whizz

I still personally think things are worse now than they have been previously. I’m not naive to think America – or anywhere else for that matter – was all peace and harmony. There was always huge amounts of racial tension hiding under the surface [which is, I believe, Andy’s and your point] but by having it come out thanks to Trump’s rhetoric, it has – in my mind – bred even more hate [not just more overt hate] which has resulted in society going backwards where previously, it was inching forwards. Inching, sadly, being the operative word.

Comment by Rob

planners and their fucking semantics.

Comment by andy@cynic

Freedom is never free, it is a never ending battle. We have laws to deal with many of the issues America has, but there will always be those who ignore or disregard the laws. That is why we have the ACLU and SPLC. I donate and I vote and I am active in my community. We are also retired military, so we also served our country for more than 20 years.
