With all the horribleness that the World media revels in shouting at the World, it’s easy to forget that every single day, good trumps bad.
Whether it’s a person offering their seat to someone in need, a stranger smiling at a stranger or just the simple act of giving a hug to someone you love, we are surrounded by good things and that’s something worth remembering.
Of course there are times when there’s a more generous act … a more obvious demonstration of goodness … and those are wonderful too, because they have the power to make us sit up and take notice and remember that while the press likes to present the streets as full of darkness and danger, they’re actually full of people that are bursting with kindness, generosity and decency.
This is one of those moments.

Starting your week on a very sweet note Robert. You’re right of course, people are awesome and so is this video.
Comment by George May 13, 2013 @ 6:14 amNo they’re not, they shoot people on mothers day parades and make shit like this http://thegreatgatsby.warnerbros.com/
Comment by Billy Whizz May 13, 2013 @ 6:24 amI regard myself a considerate husband but when Sarah told me she wanted us to see that movie, I had to put my foot down. She went with her sister and meekly announced st I had missed nothing of value. Vindication.
Comment by Pete May 13, 2013 @ 6:34 amJill saw it and loved it. Me? I watched ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey 4 Reunion’ … far classier. Or at least, less annoying.
Comment by Rob May 13, 2013 @ 7:56 amIt’s certainly more uplifting than this Smiths documentary on BBC2 right now.
Comment by John May 13, 2013 @ 6:32 amFeaturing Rob’s new best friend?

Comment by Pete May 13, 2013 @ 6:37 amThis is far too happy and positive for this blog, especially on a Monday morning. Who wrote this and what have you done with Mr Miserable?
Comment by DH May 13, 2013 @ 6:50 amI don’t want him back, just wondering what you’ve done with him.
Comment by DH May 13, 2013 @ 6:51 amIt was a momentary lapse of cynicism. Normal service will be resumed as soon as my colleagues decide to come into the office.

Let me tell you, this post is the least of your concerns, you should see this one:

To this day I’m not really sure what happened, but the good news is that while we were momentarily invaded, they’ve all come to their senses and disappeared so normal stupid service has been returned, as you comment about this post so clearly demonstrates.
Now stay by the phone, I’m calling you for the gossip.
Comment by Rob May 13, 2013 @ 8:20 amas if coming home from a holiday wasnt depressing enough. alright campbell, lets get the fucking thing over with.
Comment by andy@cynic May 13, 2013 @ 8:29 amWe’re all going to be OK. Andy is back. We’re saved.
Comment by Billy Whizz May 13, 2013 @ 9:35 amI agree. People are awesome. We just need to toss these central banking warmonger parasites off our back and the planet will be awesome.

Comment by Ajven May 13, 2013 @ 12:53 pmBalls to grumpiness. This is a great post.
Comment by northern May 13, 2013 @ 8:10 pmIt shouldn’t amazing how far a kind word or thoughtful act can get you, yet it is.
By the way, psychology bollocks seems to show that doing nice things for people actually makes you happier than stuff for yourself. While this is counter-intuituive and actually means that being nice to people can be a very selfish act, it’s still worth bearing in mind.
It’s also why having kids makes you happy, even if it means giving up your life most of your disposable income.
There’s no excuse for being nice to anyone who does Media Arts though
Your comment gives us a chance to do an experiment.
Andy, which makes you happier and which costs the most: a child or an ex wife?
Only joking. It’s great you’re back. You’ve been missed. Especially when those Einstein freaks were on here a few weeks ago. Good news on Bonnie too.
Comment by DH May 13, 2013 @ 9:15 pmthe only reason im not going to come over and smash your fucking face in for that comment is im still traumatised from all the shit that campbell wrote while i was away. fuck me, everytime i think hes reached new depths he proves me wrong afuckingain.
Comment by andy@cynic May 14, 2013 @ 6:15 amSo true. The tragic dominates the news but the decent dominates our lives.
