Yes, you read that post title right … this post is about porn.
Except it isn’t.
OK, it is.
But don’t worry, I’m not going to let you look bad [or should I say, ‘worse’] to your partner/colleagues/boss because rather than send you to the sort of site Northern views in client meetings, I’m pushing you towards the blog of Jon Millward who has compiled a bunch of data from the porn industry.
While your first response might be, “Who cares, where’s the tits?” [ahem] … the reality is this sort of things gives much more insight into the masses than you might initially think … whether that’s in terms of what people secretly like, want, believe or do or whether it’s what they’re being manipulated into believing they should like, want, believe or do.
Well that’s my excuse for my constant prostitute interviews.
Anyway, you can read the findings of 10,000 porn stars and their movies here.
While I’m at it, if you want to see a good documentary, check out ‘After Porn Ends’.
It’s a film that follows the post-career of a bunch of porn stars.
It’s fascinating – not just for the human aspect – but because it reminds us that there are implications to all we do and we should be mindful of that rather than simply diving headfirst into anything, without giving it any consideration..
Yes, I know I’m not exactly the right person to make a statement like that, but I’m pretty sure we have clarified that I’m a total hypocrite.
Anyway, it’s a really good doco and the trailer for it is below.

listen campbell, we all know you have a fucking understanding/mental wife who doesnt mind you interviewing prostitues wherever the fuck you go, but you might be taking the piss a little with data on porn and documentaries on porn. im all for it but youve already bagged out of your fucking league and you really dont want to push it because if she comes to your senses, youd be lucky to attract dead maggie t.
Comment by andy@cynic April 9, 2013 @ 6:17 amHave you forgotten you were behind potent_pix? (Didn’t forget the _)
Comment by DH April 9, 2013 @ 6:40 amthat wasnt porn, that was fucking art. peasant.
Comment by andy@cynic April 9, 2013 @ 6:47 amtalking of maggie t. why the fuck are all these twats cheering her death. i know she was a bitch and a witch who set the foundation for englands entry into the kingdom of the 3rd bastard world, but she was voted in by the fucking people. so instead of burning her picture, they should go round and see the majority of the pricks in england who voted for her. yes, thats you leftie student twats who werent even alive when she left number fucking 10 and dont have the faintest fucking idea about life let alone politics. cheering the dead? how very fucking big of you. pricks.
Comment by andy@cynic April 9, 2013 @ 6:23 amGiven how much I know you disliked MT, your comment is very surprising. Without doubt you’re making a mature response with a very good point about shared blame, but it is still very surprising. It is increasingly obvious to one and all that Bonnie is as good for you as you are to her.
Comment by George April 9, 2013 @ 6:31 amWho are you? What have you done with Andy?
Comment by DH April 9, 2013 @ 6:37 amTried to send you this the other day Andy, but your old email seems to finally have accepted that you’re not coming back. http://blogs.hbr.org/cs/2013/04/seven_rules_for_managing_creat.html
Comment by John April 9, 2013 @ 6:46 amthanks for testing my email filter doddsy. good to learn is its still working its ass off. unlike campbell. ill check it out. im guessing its intellectual bollocks with sarcastic bite. fucking perfect.
Comment by andy@cynic April 9, 2013 @ 6:49 amoh this is fucking gold. ta doddsy.
Comment by andy@cynic April 9, 2013 @ 6:51 amPeople only want to share the credit, never the blame.
I despaired Thatcher, but some of the responses to her death are shameful and disgraceful. I find the responses people make to politicians death very different depending on which side of the pond you live. When George Bush or George W die, I am sure there won’t be anywhere near the same level of public reaction and yet they arguably inflicted the same levels of devastation on parts of the country as Thatcher and her conservative government.
Comment by Pete April 9, 2013 @ 6:57 am*despised, not despaired.
Comment by Pete April 9, 2013 @ 6:58 amI cannot stand what she did, but I find joy in anyone’s death to be a horrible thing.
Comment by Rob Mortimer April 9, 2013 @ 7:46 amIt is interesting that a debate on pornography would result in a less heated conversation than one on Thatcher. I never really cared for the woman, nor her policies or government but that doesn’t justify the vitriolic commentary going on. It is also laughable that some claim everything wrong with England is down to her legacy. She was responsible for many shameful decisions, but those who have followed her have acted in equally terrible ways.
Apologies for going off topic, but Andrew started it with his surprisingly responsible commentary.
Comment by Lee Hill April 9, 2013 @ 8:13 amWow Andy, I’m very impressed. Like many people, I was not a fan of Thatcher, but she at least made people care about politics which is more than 99.9% of politicians do now.
The way people are reveling in her death disturbs me. Actually, it sickens me – especially when people like Gerry Adams have the audacity to say she did great harm to the Irish and British people – conveniently forgetting the great harm he also inflicted.
She did a lot of wrong, I saw that in the 80’s and I still see it now, but as Lee said, to claim she is solely responsible for every wrong that has occurred is utterly ridiculous and shows we haven’t actually learnt anything other than the ability to point fingers and blame.
Comment by Rob April 9, 2013 @ 8:44 amI’ll say something for her though, she had some great one liners, http://tinyurl.com/2eqwum & she also said something – admittedly via the terrible movie about her life – that gave me a blog post that I still like, even if you lot think it’s as rubbish as everything I say on here:

Comment by Rob April 9, 2013 @ 8:59 amShe ignored research, I’ll give her that.
Comment by northern April 9, 2013 @ 4:42 pmI will watch this documentary Robert and should Mary walk in and ask me what the hell I am doing, I will point her to this post and explain it is about deeper human understanding.

If I has $1 for every time I heard you roll out this excuse.
Comment by DH April 9, 2013 @ 6:38 amPorn’s not what it used to be http://www.stairporn.org/
Comment by John April 9, 2013 @ 6:41 ambit fucking worrying the first picture resembles the staircase im looking at right now. when you say porns not what it used to be, is that because you preferred looking at ceilings? or pillows?
Comment by andy@cynic April 9, 2013 @ 6:51 amI’ve seen that documentary and it’s very, very good.
Informative, insightful, emotional and sad with, as Rob said, a very interesting point about the implications of all our actions.
Comment by Pete April 9, 2013 @ 7:03 amSo basically a post about porn has been overwhelmed by comments on how society are responding to Thatcher’s death.
It’s probably what she would have wanted.
Comment by Rob April 9, 2013 @ 8:57 amThatch didn’t recognise the existence of society.
Comment by Ben Elton April 9, 2013 @ 4:47 pmI’m not responding to the porn jibe.
Comment by northern April 9, 2013 @ 4:44 pmAt least I don’t consort with hookers under the guise of ‘work’
But then I don’t watch Youporn during work meetings.
Comment by Rob April 9, 2013 @ 5:14 pmAs I mentioned, the story behind this is much funnier than the fact but hey ho
Comment by northern April 9, 2013 @ 5:53 pmAmazed Billy didn’t ask if the doco had a happy ending.
Comment by John April 9, 2013 @ 4:48 pmHe probably was making it happen while typing his comments. With one hand of course.
Comment by Rob April 9, 2013 @ 5:14 pmI watched that documentary. Hardly any tits in it. Thanks for conning me into wasting 90 minutes of my life on learning.
