… which means either the people at HMV Hong Kong are retail geniuses, or the population of China’s SAR are slightly backward/honest.

is that it? where the fuck is the inane rambling and tenuous fucking link to planning or adland? what shit are you trying to pull here campbell?

and i have no fucking idea why hmv would open a fucking store in hk when youre now residing in commie central. i also didnt realise that the hmv pooch looks like hes about to take a massive fucking dump. makes sense because who the fuck buys music and dvds any fucking more. except rob “i want to own the original of every piece of audio and film shit ever made” campbell.

this is back to your usual shit but much much fucking shorter. whats wrong? has j left you or something. if she has then its your pain our fucking gain.

She’s still with me … or at least I think she is … you can thank the need to get to the airport for the short post, but I’ll make up for it tomorrow, as I know how much you miss it.

Comment by Rob

i raise a fucking glass to whoever books your travel arrangements, long may it fucking continue.

Comment by andy@cynic

Well you should double toast them because the flights got mixed up and I’m not going till tomorrow.

Now if only I’d found that out prior to [1] waking up at 5am and [2] getting to the airport.

Laugh it up you bastard, laugh it up.

Comment by Rob

and why the fuck is this post out earlier than usual? typo or jetlag?

what the fuck is happening over there. and dont think i really care because i couldnt really give a fuck.

Comment by andy@cynic

Is HMV a museum for how people used to do shit?

Comment by Billy Whizz

more like a fucking memoriam.

Comment by andy@cynic

I also share Andy’s concerns relating to the length of this post, it simply isn’t the sort of thing the Robert we all know and occasionally enjoy, does.
I remember when HMV was regarded as the posh record shop, only seen in major cities, like McDonald’s.
When I was growing up, records (LP’s, EP’s, 12″ remixes & singles) were purchased at WH Smiths, Boots or Our Price records but then fast food meant Wimpy and nothing else.
Anyone who say’s life hasn’t improved isn’t old enough to remember what it was once like.

Comment by George

you used to buy records? you didnt tape the shit off the sunday night chart show? you fucking rich bastard. youll be saying you used to get smash hits delivered to your fucking door with your parents newspaper next. middle class social fucking climber.

Comment by andy@cynic

I used to read the NME, but thank you for revealing your past so openly Andrew. Admitting to reading Smash Hits would take great courage.

Comment by George

you fucking wanker. anyway it was my fucking sisters even though i didnt have one. at least it wasnt that heavy metal shit kerrang, a pile of wank that campbell used to sneak out of the office to buy every fucking wednesday morning and probably still does hoping to catch a fucking snippet on queen. twat.

Comment by andy@cynic

Don’t diss Kerrang … though it is responsible for getting me a written warning for what Rupert Howell classified as basically skiving. Oh the good ol’ days …

Comment by Rob

back then you used to get a written warning or a bollocking every other fucking week, thats when you were interesting and almost fun to work with.

Comment by andy@cynic

Interesting and almost fun to work with? You’re talking about Rob? Rob Campbell?

Comment by Billy Whizz

how could you play records when electricity hadn’t been invented yet?

Comment by Billy Whizz

1) relatively speaking he was. still a cock compared to every other fucker though.

2) fuck off you little twat. just because you dress like a fucking 12 year old doesnt excuse the fact youre no spring bastard chicken.

Comment by andy@cynic

I do still read my blog Andy – I can see your comments, just in case you didn’t realise that!

Comment by Rob

God your comment about W H Smiths, Boots, Our Price and Wimpy brings back some memories George. I am so glad I was not the only one who suffered such a bad childhood either, ha!

Comment by Rob

smash hits?

Comment by andy@cynic

I used to work in a Wimpy. 3 1/2 years, man and boy. They still exist, albeit mostly at service stations.

Comment by Will

You worked at Wimpy for three and a half years! Murderers get less … respect. Or commiseration’s.

Comment by Rob

I had a Wimpy last year, biggest rip off of a burger I have ever had the misfortune to buy. Was about £6 and was about the size of a £99p McDonalds cheeseburger

Comment by Rob Mortimer

what disturbs me is that i also thought the HMV dog looks like he’s taking a shit.

Comment by lauren

great fucking minds blah blah fucking blah.

Comment by andy@cynic

and fools rarely differ, blah blah blah

Comment by lauren

Does anyone remember Look In?
And I welcome a shorter post as it allows more time to read the comments and let’s face it, that’s where the action is

Comment by northern

Sadly I do remember that mag and even more sadly, I know that the comments are the only reason people come to this blog. Does that make me sad or just honest? Or both?

Comment by Rob

Is that the one in the shopping centre where we were the other week?

Comment by Rob Mortimer

did you share a moment in hk? how fucking romantic.

Comment by andy@cynic

My wife was there too, we missed you Andy

😉

Comment by Rob Mortimer

only human. supposedly.

Comment by andy@cynic

cant wait to read this shithole tomorrow:

“bookshop opens despite ipad book app. shock fucking horror”.

Comment by andy@cynic

HMV has about as much to do with music these days as MTV.
