RED means STOP
GREEN means GO
… so that begs the question, just what is the real point of AMBER?
As far as I’m concerned, all it does is get in the middle of stuff that’s actually productive.
So if you’d like to see the back of annoying Amber, please sign here.

is this post brought to us by the subliminal message society? eitherway, count me in.
Comment by andy@cynic February 8, 2007 @ 10:57 amI’ve always wondered why we have amber.
I know they say it’s a “get ready” colour/symbol, but it feels like it’s a lonely, sad colour; trying desperately to associate itself with the colours it knows people respect and respond to all because deep down, it knows it has little significance or value.
Comment by Pete February 8, 2007 @ 11:03 amPete – I know you’re a very clever chappie, but that seems astoundingly accurate. Are you a mind reader?
Comment by Rob February 8, 2007 @ 11:04 amNo I’m not, though i do know a rude joke about mind reading.
Comment by Pete February 8, 2007 @ 11:05 amIs it the “… do you want your palm red” one?
Comment by Rob February 8, 2007 @ 11:05 amThat’s the one.
Comment by Pete February 8, 2007 @ 11:06 amGenius … if not a little bit wrong! [As all good jokes should be!]
BTW, got your email – thanks mate, will do.
Comment by Rob February 8, 2007 @ 11:07 amamber is pants. Good morning.
Comment by Marcus Brown February 8, 2007 @ 2:57 pmGood morning Marcus. Astute observation there …
Comment by Rob February 8, 2007 @ 3:26 pmThat’s right, pick on poor defenceless amber.
Comment by Northern Planner February 8, 2007 @ 3:52 pmbloddy liberals.
Comment by Marcus Brown February 8, 2007 @ 3:57 pmNP likes Amber?
Rob no longer likes NP.
Comment by Rob February 8, 2007 @ 4:52 pmWhere will it all end? We get rid of amber and before you know it we’re going after red. And then it’ll just be go, go, go all the way. Count me in.
Comment by simon February 8, 2007 @ 5:24 pmGet ready!
‘Get ready for what? To stop? To go? ARGH!’
As someone who is taking driving lessons I can vouch entirely how annoying this is for people starting out in cars.
Comment by Rob Mortimer February 8, 2007 @ 5:26 pmThat’s the spirit Simon – you know it makes sense. Besides, RED is communist whereas GREEN is all nice, fluffy and pro-environment.
Comment by Rob February 8, 2007 @ 5:27 pmWhat do you mean TAKING DRIVING LESSONS!
A northerner who drinks liqueur, listens to Britney and doesn’t drive. Why do I like you???
Comment by Rob February 8, 2007 @ 5:29 pmMr Mortimer, I’m shocked. Really.
Comment by Marcus Brown February 8, 2007 @ 5:31 pm1. Theres nowt wrong with the ocassional liqueur!
2. I DONT listen to Britney, thats NP. I listen to decent music thank you very much!
3. My parents couldnt afford to pay for them when I was 17 unlike everyone else I know, so I had to go to uni then start earning money before I could do them!
Comment by Rob Mortimer February 8, 2007 @ 5:34 pmIs that the Hovis theme I hear in the background?
Comment by Rob February 8, 2007 @ 5:40 pmYes, only with an added breakbeat…
Comment by Rob Mortimer February 8, 2007 @ 5:44 pmYou posed the question, I gave the answer!
Toxic was a good song though wasn’t it?
Comment by Marcus Brown February 8, 2007 @ 5:52 pmPoor Rob … please don’t hate me. Hate Marcus, but not me.
Comment by Rob February 8, 2007 @ 5:54 pmIt was, but as with most pop songs from the US; the quality depends far more on the producer than the artist.
Thats why the Neptunes and Timberland make more money from production than most artists.
Comment by Rob Mortimer February 8, 2007 @ 5:55 pmHaha! I dont do hate. I just ignore people I dont like…

Pff, I cant be mad at you two; otherwise id have no one to back me up against Andy on his anti-planner rampages; or when NP starts accusing me of drinking wussy drinks while he sips white wine!

Comment by Marcus Brown February 8, 2007 @ 10:03 pmYes I know I have … but you’ll also see I’ve come crawling back on all fours begging … screaming … to be let back into your life again.
Bit like the ex-wife?
Comment by Rob February 8, 2007 @ 10:04 pmI’ve let you back in, but don’t play with my emotions ever again.
Comment by Marcus Brown February 8, 2007 @ 10:07 pmIt was a mistake … It was a cry for attention … I love you, need you, want you …

Comment by Marcus Brown February 8, 2007 @ 10:09 pmI’m worrying myself.
To restore faith in my intentions – I’m off to make the missus some dinner. OH MY GOD … I’M IN THE BLOODY KITCHEN, WHAT’S GOING ON!!!
Later …
Comment by Rob February 8, 2007 @ 10:12 pmi have an affinity with red. everyone knows that. and theoretically, i should be picking on amber worse than a 6th grade bully. however as someone with a whose car is a real shitbox and who likes living on the edge, amber is actually more GO! GO! GO! than green. Green is a polite, courteous wave through the intersection. amber on the other hand screams – put your fucking foot down girl and get on with it! and that’s why i like amber.
Comment by lauren February 9, 2007 @ 9:52 amLauren, I respect your views and I do love your writing. But see ‘comment 1’ and realise this post may not all be what it seems! Ahem.
