Sweeeeeeeeeet Design …

More lovely looking and lovely tasting food from Bangkok.

They really do appreciate the importance of presentation in their food preperation don’t they.

Sure these dishes were from rather fancypants places but the point is the way they looked, added as much to the enjoyment of eating as did their wonderful taste.

I’ve talked about this before [here and here] but it still shocks me how few people really appreciate the importance of design in motivating consumer choice.

When I meet people who believe packaging is only for functional purposes … I tend to say if that’s the case, why aren’t they dressed top-to-toe in denim because on a purely practical basis, it’s far longer-lasting, hard-wearing and cost efficient than the clothes they carefully pick out to wear each and every day.

They soon get the point.

Design is not the be-all and end-all … there are hundreds of factors to take into account if you are to have a profitable and adored brand … however it does have the power to create a disproportionate level of influence over our decisions and if you ever meet anyone who thinks otherwise, check out the clothes they’re wearing and if it is anything other than a grey cardigan and trackie pants, you know you can prove them wrong.
